if you ever need to do some serious file transfer, i would deefff recommend the ethernet crossover cable (actually i don’t think you even need a special crossover cable these days, any old cable seemed to work). in any case, i just moved ~60 GB of stuff from my PC (which is going into storage) to my mac, and it was extremely painless
