Fireball: The John Gruber Story
It’s an honor to have been involved in Dan’s project. Frankly, this is the kind of role every actor waits for his whole life. What a cast. And, Kubrick made us reshoot the drinking scene almost 300 times.
Well done, Dan.
Who is John Gruber?

SparkNotes = OKCupid = Bishop Allen?!

Did you know that OKCupid was started by the guy from Bishop Allen? Him and his friends started SparkNotes, too. WEIRD, HUH? If you don’t believe me, ask the Internet.
You mean I actually had a chance to accost this dude about site navigability at the concert I went to in the fall? Ridiculous.
Woah, I knew the SparkNotes=OKCupid, but no idea about the Bishop Allen...

as my one of my college roommates just wrote re: this glorious photo montage: the boston globe rivals “students eat snacks during exam period.” truly a high point of crimson journalism (granted, i love c.flow…and this was the final press run of the 133 and there was no news).
the real questions are: why did the photog point his camera at this guy at that moment? and did he help...

A new faux superstar athlete, this time the Moldovan soccer star Masul Bugduv:
What made the hoax so clever [was] the way it managed to beat the media at their own game…Unlike the American sports media, most of the world’s soccer press is delightfully unburdened by retrograde ethical standards regarding “the need to attribute quotations to a person” and “the need to report...

Click-through links
When you make a photo post, do you set a click-through link?
I see four (well three) popular approaches:
No click-through links (too much work!)
Click-through link to the original image file (since tumblr shrinks large images)
Click-through link to the relevant article page/blog post/etc (gives context!)
Click-through link to your favorite shock meme (i.e. goatse, 2g1c, etc)

Oh man, duke trip round 2? Just make sure that whoever is running the girl talk part of the concert learns from our mistakes.
We will not do low-end though; we’ll leave that to others.

What to do in Montreal
My brother is headed to Montreal this weekend, so I wrote up the highlights from the time I went there a couple years ago.

When some time ago a friend of mine told me that Thomas Friedman’s new book, Hot, Flat, and Crowded, was going to be a kind of environmentalist clarion call against American consumerism, I almost died laughing.

Drama: 4 a.m. crossword style
So I’m doing my usual, idiotic “insomniac-by-choice” bit, and solving this week’s NYTimes crosswords.
Despite always thinking that crosswords are nice, relaxing, and sleep-inducing. Monday’s puzzle gets me into a mild fury as I try to finish it before the 10 minute mark. As I enter the last letter, I get the dreaded “The grid is complete” message (vs....

That kid that talks too much in your class. The thing is like, because they talk all of the time, they are bound to say something right, and so the teacher will affirm their statement, which gives them the incentive to keep on talking. They are obsessed with the sound of their own voice. Suddenly, it seems okay to take your shoe off and just see how accurate your aim is from across...
