Lucky Boys Confusion is a band from the Chicago suburbs, and this song is about leaving the Midwestern City Lights behind:
When I leave I won’t make a sound
Make sure no one’s around
Where am I headed? I’m headed westward bound
I can’t breathe this Midwest air tonight…City Lights is off of LBC’s 2001 album Throwing the Game, which (in the pre-iPod era) never left my discman. I’ll even confess to being a 420 Geek (the second definition) and passing flyers for the band off onto my friends. I guess the band’s Midwestern angst (and ska/reggae/pop/punk sound) really resonated with me.
