Great moments in verb selection.
“Published in 1972, when sex was still supposed to take place in the dark and under the sheets, the book thrust itself into public consciousness with all the subtlety of a gigolo at a convention of bishops.”I remember finding this book in my parents’ attic when I was about 12. So. Much. Hair.
Had a similar discovery in my parents study at around the same age - I could probably have recited the book from memory in middle school. On a semi-related note, the Times’ discussion of Dr. Comfort’s personal life reminded me of The Position, a pretty solid novel about a family whose parents wrote a sex guide in the 70s.
