I think I’ve found a business plan that can work for the publishing industry. Witness “Cellmates: Look Who’s In Jail!” a weekly magazine they sell at the gas station right next to my hotel here in Tampa. It is, simply, the mugshots, with names and crimes, of every single person who was arrested in the local area over the last week. It runs 16 pages.
I am not sure if this is considered a public service, or just like one of those Hamptons magazines rich people subscribe to just so they can brag to their friends that they were included in the most recent edition.
It costs one dollar. I would have paid 20.
And they say print is dead…
