Jets to Brazil - Orange Rhyming Dictionary (mp3)

Rivers name-dropped Widener Library in “Dreamin’.” And the Widener stacks are home to a lot of books (and some other stuff), but a quick search confirms that they have no “Orange Rhyming Dictionary”.

This song is off of Jets to Brazil’s 2000 album Four Cornered Night but also shares its name with their 1998 debut album.

I think it’s a good example of what emo meant before it meant this.

verse in my head
first light fingers rake the hills
turns a landscape into lines
finds the phantom limbs
connects the dots i got her name
from an orange rhyming dictionary

I don’t think I know anyone else who likes Jets to Brazil, or at least I’ve never had a conversation with anyone about the band.

I’m not sure if I want to know that a few of my friends are fans, or if I just want to continue living in my fantasy universe where I pretend I am the only fan of this (rather popular) band.
